Wheeling house fire 1-14-11

The Wheeling Fire Department received multiple calls around 7:30 PM this evening reporting a house fire on the 100 block of Manchester Drive West. Upon arrival, the first responding units found a fully involved attached garage at 115 Manchester Drive West and immediately upgraded the call to a Code 4. This triggered mutual aid from neighboring departments including Northbrook, Lincolnshire, Buffalo Grove, and Arlington Heights. At the time of the incident, some local units were already engaged in other emergencies, which limited the number of companies available for the initial response. Despite this, firefighters quickly made a strong attack on the garage fire, which had extended slightly into the attic. Their efforts prevented significant damage to the main structure of the home.
