Early Thursday morning on February 18, 2016, the Park Ridge Fire Department received an urgent call about a house fire at 105 Elmore Street. The RED Center got the distress call at 7:43 AM, reporting possible entrapment of two individuals inside the burning building. The dispatch was immediate, marked as a Code 4 for an active fire situation. Within minutes, a concerned neighbor shouted out that the residents had managed to escape safely.
The Park Ridge Battalion 35 quickly arrived on the scene and found heavy flames engulfing the back portion of the house, with adjacent units already showing signs of exposure. Firefighters wasted no time and swiftly tackled the inferno, successfully containing the fire before it could spread further. Thankfully, although the residents were exposed to thick smoke, they were treated at the scene and both declined any need for hospital transport.
Mutual aid support from neighboring departments such as Rosemont, Niles, Des Plaines, Morton Grove, and the North Maine FPD played a crucial role in managing the emergency.
