Autodesk Excellence in Infrastructure 2013 Awards Spotlight the World's Best Civil Infrastructure Projects

Explore the winning projects from the USA, UK, Netherlands, and India

It’s hard to escape the constant stream of negative news about the state of global infrastructure. From crumbling roads to outdated water systems, the public is increasingly aware of the challenges we face. In the U.S., for instance, a recent Harris Interactive poll revealed that major infrastructure failures are now seen as the top concern among Americans.

While it's important to highlight these issues, it's equally vital to celebrate the innovative and forward-thinking solutions that are making a real difference. These projects showcase how cutting-edge technology can transform the way we plan, design, and build our infrastructure.

This is exactly what the Autodesk Excellence in Infrastructure Competition aims to do. Now in its second year, the competition brings together professionals who use Building Information Modeling (BIM) to create smarter, more efficient infrastructure solutions. Hosted by Autodesk and CGarchitect, the event highlights the best examples of BIM application across civil engineering and urban development.

The 2013 winners were:

"These winning projects demonstrate how BIM can be used effectively throughout the entire lifecycle of an infrastructure project," said Lisa Campbell, vice president of industry strategy and marketing at Autodesk. "For example, HNTB utilized Autodesk tools to implement a BIM process from planning through construction, involving multiple stakeholders and ensuring a successful outcome."

Managed by CGarchitect and supported by Autodesk and HP, the competition received entries from across various sectors, including transportation, land development, urban planning, and water/wastewater systems. Each submission was evaluated based on complexity, technological innovation, sustainability, and the overall impact of Autodesk software on the project’s success.

The winners will be recognized at the Autodesk University 2013 conference in Las Vegas this December, and they will also receive over $10,000 in prizes from the competition sponsors, including HP.
