Outer PE Inner EP Plastic-Coated Composite Steel Pipe
Outer PE inner EP plastic-coated steel pipes are professionally manufactured and sold. These composite steel pipes have no restrictions on diameter, and the lining thickness can be customized based on the specific application requirements. Depending on the corrosive environment, different thicknesses of lining can be selected, with lengths ranging from 6 to 12 meters. The nominal diameter of these coated steel pipes is typically between 0.5 and 1 mm. The inner surface is smooth, offering low friction and wear resistance, which reduces fluid loss and increases flow efficiency, resulting in energy savings. In recent years, corrosion-resistant spiral steel pipes have become widely used in water supply and drainage systems, potable water distribution, and fire protection pipelines. Traditionally, hot-dip galvanized steel pipes were commonly used for fire protection systems. However, more and more communities, hotels, and office buildings are now switching to internal and external epoxy powder-coated steel pipes, which offer a sleek appearance, long service life, and are becoming a key product in modern industries.
The outer PE and inner EP plastic-coated steel pipes provide excellent performance. The epoxy powder coating is tough, waterproof, and non-toxic, with strong adhesion to the steel pipe surface. It offers superior rust and water resistance, thanks to high-quality raw materials. The paint film has good mechanical strength, is resistant to abrasion and impact, and features a high solid content, resulting in a thick and durable coating. The molecular structure of epoxy powder contains active epoxy groups that can react with various curing agents to form a three-dimensional network structure, making it insoluble and infusible. This makes it ideal for long-term use without softening or burning. Currently, thermosetting powder coatings like epoxy, epoxy-phenolic, polyester, and epoxy-polyester are widely used. Among them, epoxy powder coatings are the most common, especially in electrostatic spraying applications. Epoxy-phenolic coatings, on the other hand, are known for their high chemical resistance and are often used for anti-corrosion purposes.
Thermoplastic powder coatings include polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene, chlorinated polyether, nylon, and polyphenylene sulfide. Each has its own advantages and limitations. Thermosetting coatings, due to their smaller molecular weight, provide better leveling and wetting properties, allowing for stronger adhesion to the steel pipe surface and a smoother finish. Common thermosetting resins used include epoxy resin, phenolic resin, and amino resin. The coating thickness usually ranges from 100 to 500 microns, typically around 350 microns. These pipes are hygienic, non-toxic, and do not promote microbial growth, ensuring clean fluid quality. They also have excellent weather resistance, making them suitable for harsh environments such as deserts and saline-alkali areas.
When processing the pipe threads, cooling should be carefully managed during the process. For flange connections, single-line drawings of the pipeline can be created on-site, and after processing, coating, and plastic lining, the pipes can be transported to the installation site. For uncoated, plastic-lined steel pipes, on-site assembly using pipe fittings and flange welding is possible, followed by coating and lining before final installation. It's recommended to prioritize pre-grooved plastic-coated pipe fittings. Grooves should be made using a rolling groove machine, ensuring the depth meets relevant standards for proper fit and function.
