Autodesk Announces HSMWorks and HSMXpress 2016

Today, Autodesk unveiled the latest iteration of its HSMWorks family of products, offering comprehensive Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) solutions fully integrated with SolidWorks 2016. HSMWorks and HSMXpress 2016 are part of a robust suite of advanced manufacturing tools provided by Autodesk, which also includes Inventor HSM, CAM functionalities within Fusion 360, Delcam products, TruNest, TruLaser solutions, and Factory Design Suite. The HSMWorks Professional 2016 edition now supports advanced 3+2 axis strategies for CNC milling machines and introduces turning capabilities for CNC lathes. Meanwhile, HSMWorks Premium 2016 builds on these features by adding simultaneous 5-axis machining options. On the other hand, HSMXpress 2016 remains a free offering, providing users with reliable 2.5-axis milling capabilities. These solutions empower SolidWorks users with highly efficient, integrated CAM tools designed to enhance their design-to-manufacturing workflows. "We remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting all our HSM CAM products, ensuring compatibility across various design platforms," stated Al Whatmough, product manager for Autodesk HSM CAM products. "With this latest release, SolidWorks users now have access to an entirely integrated CAM solution." In addition to supporting SolidWorks 2016, this new version boasts several notable enhancements: - **User Experience Improvements**: Features such as silhouette sketch, advanced note visualization, optimized default management, updated Albrecht and Maritool holder libraries, and enhanced WCS definitions in job setups have been introduced. - **Toolpath Generation Enhancements**: New capabilities include morphed spiral toolpaths, rest machining for turning operations, stay-down linking, adaptive clearing step downs, engraving strategies, semi-automatic chamfering, and automatic holder detection for adaptive clearing. - **Post Processing Additions**: The update introduces a CAMPlete interface, generic Haas UMC 750 support, generic Haas Mill/Turn configurations, factory-tested Datron support, and generic Siemens turning capabilities.
