At around 3 PM on June 27, 2016, a two-alarm fire broke out at an apartment building located at 3004 Roberts Drive in Woodridge. The Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District responded swiftly to the scene, working tirelessly to contain and extinguish the flames. Here are some photos captured by photographer Josh Boyajian that provide a glimpse into the efforts of the firefighters and the severity of the situation.
The first image shows one of the fire trucks from the Lisle-Woodridge FPD arriving at the scene. The vehicle is positioned strategically to begin battling the blaze, its bright red color standing out against the gray smoke rising in the background. This moment captures the initial response phase, where time is critical to prevent further spread of the fire.
In another shot, you can see firefighters hard at work during the overhaul phase. This is the stage where they carefully inspect the affected area to ensure all embers are extinguished and there’s no risk of reignition. Their focus and determination are evident as they move through the charred remains of what was once someone's home.
A third photograph highlights yet another fire truck from the same district. It’s parked with precision, serving as both a tool for firefighting and a symbol of hope for those affected by the disaster. The presence of these vehicles underscores the importance of having well-trained professionals ready to act when emergencies arise.
Another compelling image features a senior officer from the Lisle-Woodridge FPD, likely overseeing operations or coordinating between teams on site. His calm demeanor suggests confidence in his team’s ability to handle the crisis effectively. This picture offers insight into the leadership aspect of emergency management.
There’s also a photo showing a Downers Grove fire engine assisting alongside their counterparts from Lisle-Woodridge. Such collaboration between neighboring districts demonstrates unity within the firefighting community—a crucial factor in managing large-scale incidents like this one.
These images not only document the bravery and skill of our local firefighters but also remind us how quickly situations can change. As residents of DuPage County, we’re fortunate to have dedicated personnel who put themselves in harm’s way every day to protect us. Let’s take a moment to appreciate their sacrifices and continue supporting them however we can moving forward.
