Working fire in Oak Park, 11-3-15

This is what Josh Boyajian shared: Around 7:30 PM on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015, the Main Fire Alarm Office (MFAO) dispatched the 18th Battalion to a still alarm at the intersection of Rice and Austin. Just about half a minute later, Oak Park received a tone-out for a structure fire at the exact same location. The caller reported smoke and flames coming from the third floor of an apartment building. Battalion 18 arrived on the scene and informed the MFAO that there was indeed a fire on the third floor of a three-story apartment building on the Oak Park side of the street. Engine 96 was the first unit to arrive and took the lead. Truck 29 was the first ladder company, and they quickly raised their main ladder to the roof. There was a significant fire raging on the third floor. By the time I got there, the fire had already been brought under control, but it was fascinating to witness both Chicago Fire Department and Oak Park firefighters working collaboratively at the scene. Here are some photos I managed to take. [Attached are several images showing different aspects of the fire scene, including firefighting efforts from various angles.] It was impressive to see how coordinated the response was, with each department playing their part efficiently. The teamwork between the two departments was evident in how smoothly everything seemed to operate despite the urgency of the situation. These photos really capture the intensity and the camaraderie among the firefighters as they tackled this challenging scenario together.
