Chicago Still Alarm fire, 2/7/15

This message is from Eric Haak:

I took this photo around 9:15 AM on Saturday, February 7th, 2015, at 3259 S. Halsted. I arrived about five minutes too late, and the fire was already mostly under control by the time I got there. The flames seemed to be mostly confined to the rear porches of a large, three-story building that had mixed occupancy. Fire engines 29 and 28, along with trucks 8 and 11, were on the scene. It was tough to get a clear shot of Engine 29 because it was facing into the sun.

Here are some photos from the incident:

It was interesting to see how quickly the firefighters managed to bring the fire under control. The building looked pretty damaged, especially on the back side. I didn’t stick around for long, but it was clear that the crew worked hard to prevent the fire from spreading further. A few people were watching from the sidewalk, and I could tell they were relieved when the situation was under control.
