**SAN FRANCISCO – (BUSINESS WIRE)** – Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK), a leader in 3D design and engineering software, recently announced the launch of its new Autodesk Design Academy course on iTunes U. This marks the first time Autodesk has shared its extensive collection of curriculum resources via iTunes U, making it accessible to millions of educators and students worldwide. Created by educators and industry experts from around the globe, the Autodesk Design Academy offers hundreds of standards-aligned class projects designed to support design-based disciplines within Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). These projects leverage Autodesk’s professional-grade 3D design, engineering, and entertainment software, giving students hands-on experience with tools used by professionals in industries like architecture, manufacturing, and media. By integrating these tools into their coursework, students can develop essential 21st-century skills and prepare for future careers.
iTunes U serves as an excellent platform for educators to engage students using iPads. It enables teachers to build interactive lessons, collect assignments, and stay connected with their classes. One standout feature of the Autodesk Design Academy iTunes U course is its focus on **Autodesk Fusion 360**, a cloud-based platform that combines Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM), and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE). Fusion 360 is designed for modern product development workflows, offering an integrated, collaborative, and scalable solution that empowers users to innovate efficiently.
In addition to the iTunes U course, Autodesk has also released the **Autodesk Design Academy Multi-Touch Book**, which focuses on **Autodesk SketchBook Express**, a powerful tool for digital art creation and concept sketching. Both the iTunes U course and Multi-Touch Book will be available for free on iPad starting this fall.
"Making our educational resources freely available to educators through iTunes U and Multi-Touch Books is a tremendous opportunity to equip students with the tools they need to imagine, design, and build a better world," said Randy Swearer, Vice President of Education at Autodesk. "With the Autodesk Design Academy iTunes U course, we’re bringing top-tier educational content to even more schools, creating a pipeline of skilled designers, architects, and engineers."
In December 2014, Autodesk committed to providing free access to its 3D design software and creative applications to schools, educators, and students globally, investing millions of dollars to support future economies and foster innovation.
Jennifer Hohne, an educator at Heritage Hills High School in Lincoln City, Indiana, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative: "Autodesk software is widely used in the engineering field, and I want my students to become familiar with it so they can hit the ground running in their careers without requiring additional training."
The Autodesk Design Academy aligns with Autodesk's broader mission to enhance learning outcomes across the education spectrum. Its offerings include:
- Building proficiency among learners to support STEAM education both inside and outside the classroom.
- Providing students with industry-relevant knowledge and 3D design skills, giving them a competitive edge now and preparing them for future career success.
- Helping educators inspire creativity and innovation through project-based curricula and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching, fostering collaboration and hands-on problem-solving skills that mirror real-world business environments.
