As I dug deeper, I discovered some fascinating old photographs that I thought might be worth sharing with experts like yourselves. Attached to this email, you’ll find three images that I’ve come across during my research.
Based on what I know about my great-grandfather, I believe these photos could potentially depict members of the fire department between 1918 and 1924. My reasoning comes from the fact that his fireman’s badge is marked with “1918,†and there’s also a mention of him being involved in the Curran Hall Fire of 1924. Additionally, I suspect that the individuals in these pictures might be part of Engine Company 5, but I’m still unsure.
Unfortunately, I don’t have much knowledge about the specifics of uniforms, equipment, or other details from that era. That’s why I’m reaching out to see if any of your team—or perhaps someone else familiar with early 20th-century firefighting—could provide further insight into these images. Understanding their context would mean a lot to me as I piece together my family’s story.
