Working fire in Buffalo Grove, 8-29-20

On Saturday, August 29, 2020, firefighters from Buffalo Grove swiftly responded to a fire that broke out on a third-floor balcony at 1541 Johnson Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered the flames located on the far edge of the balcony, away from the main structure of the building. The incident was escalated to a Code 4, which called for additional emergency resources to assist with smoke control and thorough searches across the twelve-unit, three-story building. Several fire departments and emergency units were dispatched to the scene, including Buffalo Grove’s Quint 25, Engine 26, Engine 27, Ambulance 26, Battalion 4, and chief officers. Additional support came from Long Grove Squad 55, Prospect Heights Engine 39, Wheeling Truck 24, Northbrook Tower 12, Deerfield-Bannockburn Engine 20, Arlington Heights Engine 4, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Battalion 51 and Squad 51, along with ambulances from Barrington and Hoffman Estates. The fire was contained without any reported injuries, and the cause is currently under investigation. Residents in the area were advised to remain cautious as crews worked to ensure the site was fully secure. A large E-One ladder truck was seen on-site, helping firefighters access the upper levels of the building.
