Mundelein Fire Department updates

Here's an update from Mark Gaunky:

  • We recently received some photos of our new fire engine, which didn’t arrive in November as we had hoped. However, based on the images, it looks like it’s almost complete and should be delivered by December.
  • The tower ladder we purchased is still not fully operational, as we're wrapping up training on it. That said, it has already responded to a few calls during driver training sessions. All the equipment is installed, but we’re waiting for the new signage to be placed on the side of the ladder, and we’re also upgrading the emergency lighting on the basket and rear of the vehicle.
  • I’ve attached a photo from a structure fire that occurred last month. The fire started in the fireplace area, and this is what the first-arriving units found upon arrival.

We’re excited about the progress we’ve made so far and are looking forward to having the new engine and tower ladder fully operational soon. It’s always good to see the team getting hands-on experience with the new equipment, even if it’s still in the training phase. And while the fire last month was a reminder of the unpredictable nature of our job, it’s reassuring to know that our crews were ready and able to respond quickly. Stay tuned for more updates!
