Pink Heals Tour with Buffalo Grove Fire Department

The Pink Heals Tour 2010 has made several stops across Illinois, including Rockford, the IAFC trade show in Chicago, Matteson, Naperville, and now Buffalo Grove. Last night, the event took on a special tone as the three pink fire engines were joined by a Mount Prospect police car adorned with pink graphics and the Buffalo Grove IAFF Honor Guard. These trucks—two EONE Hush engines and a Spartan FMC Sentinel—have served in Bangor, ME; Tyler, TX; and Henry, VA, bringing their message of hope and support to communities nationwide. On the Pink Heals Tour Facebook page, the group describes itself as: "We are the 'Cares Enough to Wear Pink': Guardians of the Ribbon." This organization uses pink fire trucks to raise awareness about cancer and encourage men to support the women in their lives. Founded in Phoenix, Arizona, by firefighter Dave Graybill, the initiative aims to spread its message across the country and beyond. The team consists of firefighters, police officers, and community leaders who come together to promote cancer awareness and inspire action. From October 25 to 27, they're encouraging the public, local leaders, and first responders to wear something pink to show support for those fighting cancer. As part of their mission, they believe it's their duty to stand up for those who can't fight for themselves. By wearing pink, people can help bring communities together and offer a powerful sense of hope to those battling this disease. If you'd like to get involved or learn more, visit www.pinkfiretrucks.org or check out their YouTube video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xG-CMnTOaLo. Firefighter Steve Rusin from the Buffalo Grove Fire Department has been working closely with the tour, selling pink and blue t-shirts to help fund the cause. Each shirt sold contributes to spreading the message of hope and support. Several photos capture the event’s impact. The pink fire trucks, decorated with messages from individuals affected by cancer, have become symbols of strength and unity. One of the trucks, named “Karen,” received a new message during the visit. The Buffalo Grove IAFF Honor Guard escorted the trucks to a baseball game, while local families gathered to welcome the pink fleet. A full photo gallery is available for those interested in seeing more of the event. It’s a powerful reminder of how community efforts can make a real difference in the fight against cancer.
