Chicago Still & Box 2-4-11

Chicago firefighters responded to a fire at a mattress store located at 6019 N. Lincoln Avenue on Friday night, where they tackled a relatively small interior blaze. The building featured a bow string truss roof, but the fire did not spread beyond the ceiling. This strip center had previously been the scene of a fire several years ago, and during their inspection for potential fire extension, firefighters discovered charring on the rafters from that earlier incident. Truck 56 was dispatched to the scene, and as they are set to receive a new 2010 Spartan/Crimson 103' aerial ladder truck to replace their current Seagrave 100' unit, this could potentially be one of the last fires handled by the older rig before it is moved to the spare fleet.
