Mainland invests US$3.24 to meet rising demand for lighter tires in the Americas

German automotive supplier Continental AG (Continental AG) branch of the United States has said that the company plans to its factory is located in southern Illinois to invest $ 224 million to meet the rising demand for passenger car and light truck tires in the Americas. The company said that this investment project will result in a substantial increase in the production capacity of the Illinois tire factory and will provide more than 400 jobs for the local community.

Continental Tire America Branch stated that after the investment project began, as part of Continental’s global expansion project, its subsidiary in Mount Vernon, Illinois, will recruit 444 employees in phases over three years. At present, the company's Illinois factory employs more than 2,500 people.

It is reported that the company plans to use 171 million U.S. dollars in the investment funds for the upgrading of machinery and equipment, while the remaining part will be used for the construction of factories and infrastructure. After the completion of these plants and facilities, the company’s annual tire production capacity will increase by 3.7 million. At present, the company's tires have an annual capacity of 9.6 million.

Continental said that in the past three years, the company’s sales of tires in North America increased by about 7%.
