Dr. Michael Ruf said that Continental AG had established the first factory in Jinan to produce electronic components for commercial vehicles and the aftermarket. The new factory provided 210 jobs for the local people. He expects that number will double by 2015.
Dr. Michael Ruf told reporters that China is the world's largest market for automobiles and commercial vehicles and has maintained steady growth for many years. He predicts that from 2012 onwards, one in every two cars in the world will be produced in Asia, and China will be the leader in Asian car production.
Mr. Hans-Joerg Ehlers, Director of Asia Business Development Marketing Group, said that the Group has established 18 production bases and 15 sales offices in China. The Group will use its own professional knowledge and experienced technical support. Promote the localization of companies in China and produce a wide range of products suitable for local needs.
Mr. Hans-Joerg Ehlers revealed that the Continental Group will continue to take root in China and cultivate the group's highly qualified personnel and engineers in mainland China. He said that at present, the group has 14,000 employees in China, including more than 2,500 engineers. In the future, "there will be 300 new employees each year."
At the same time, it was introduced that at the initial stage of plant construction, the new plant will mainly produce commercial vehicle instrument clusters, with a monthly production of 66,000 units and an annual total output of approximately 792,000 units. The plant plans to produce body and chassis electronics from 2012 to help meet the growing demand for cost-effective solutions from local commercial vehicle and construction equipment manufacturers. The total factory floor area of ​​the new Jinan plant is 21,169 square meters.
