Friday morning around 7:30 AM, the Northbrook Fire Department received multiple calls reporting heavy smoke coming from a vacant home at 1017 Shermer Road. When first responders arrived, they found thick smoke filling the entire ranch-style house, with the source clearly coming from the basement. The incident was quickly escalated to a Code 4, indicating a working fire, and additional resources were dispatched from Glencoe and Northfield to assist in the effort.
After the fire was brought under control, a fire investigator’s box alarm was called in, bringing in experts from neighboring Division 3 departments to help determine the cause of the blaze. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are still looking into the origin of the fire.
Tim Olk was among the first on the scene and captured several powerful images of the event. His photos provide a vivid look at the intensity of the situation and the efforts of the firefighters.
