On the morning of May 30, Beijing time, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (GT) announced on May 29 that it plans to invest about 500 million U.S. dollars to build a new plant in the Americas. This will be the first time the company has been built in the Americas since 1990. The plant is currently selecting the site. It is expected that the plant will be completed and put into operation in the first half of 2017.
Goodyear also announced that it plans to increase its quarterly dividend for common stock from 5 cents to 6 cents per share from September and announced that it will increase its stock repurchase program by US$350 million.
