According to "Korea Herald" Beijing time on November 27 reported that Samsung Electronics announced today that the company has developed a graphene battery technology, battery capacity while improving the charging speed up to 5 times the existing standard. Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) said the graphene-based battery capacity than the current market, the battery is 45% higher.
Graphene, a form of carbon, is considered the perfect material for batteries because it has an electron mobility about 140 times that of silicon.
Samsung said that batteries equipped with "graphene balls" could be completely filled in just 12 minutes. In contrast, existing batteries take an hour to fully fill. As the graphene battery can be stable up to 60 degrees Celsius, the new battery is also expected to be used in electric vehicles.
Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology said they have released the study to Nature Communications magazine titled "Graphene Ball for Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Supporting Rapid Charge, High-Volume Energy Density" and in South Korea And the United States applied for a patent.
