Discussion on Selecting Rare Earth from Magnetite Tailings in Baotou Steel Concentrator

Baotou Steel beneficiation plants have been built eight production series, which is handling the series 6,7,8 native Bayan Obo iron ore production magnet series, magnetite series is weak magnetic - reverse flotation process. After years of production practice, the process can effectively reduce the fluorine content in the concentrate, which is beneficial to the subsequent sintering production; the 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 series are the processing series of the Bayan Obo oxidized ore, and the oxidized ore series is The weak magnetic-strong magnetic-reverse flotation process, while reducing the fluorine content in the concentrate, increasing the iron recovery rate and the iron concentrate grade, the strong magnetic process can recover the rare earth minerals in the oxidized ore, so that the oxidized ore series can be produced. Iron concentrate and rare earth concentrates. The process is shown in Figure 1.

With China's accession to the WTO, competition in the steel industry has intensified, requiring companies to make full use of existing resources, expand employment channels, and expand living space. Therefore, the selection of rare earth from magnetite tailings has become an important transformation project.

First, process improvement practice

The original production process of 6, 7, and 8 series is three-stage continuous grinding. The graded overflow is re-selected by secondary weak magnetic separation, permanent magnet cylinder magnetic separator, and returned to the ball mill. The permanent magnet concentrate is dehydrated by dewatering tank. A rough selection and secondary selection of reverse flotation operations are given. The flow is shown in the dotted line of Figure 2. The right part of the dotted line is the process of increasing the rare earth minerals in the magnetite tailings in order to recover the rare earth minerals in the magnetite tailings.

At the beginning of the design of the magnetite tailings selection rare earth transformation project, the oxidized ore series rare earth sorting process has been produced for many years. For this design, the design experience of the rare earth separation process of the oxidized ore series and the configuration of the flotation machine are mainly used. The oxidized ore series rare earth separation process equipment configuration is shown in Figure 3.
