Autodesk Launches Tinkerplay App to Make 3D Design and 3D Printing Fun

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) has unveiled a new free* app called Tinkerplay, aimed at children of all ages who are eager to explore creativity through 3D design and 3D printing.

Tinkerplay is built on the foundation of Modio, an app Autodesk previously acquired, and now joins the Tinkercad family of tools. The app allows users to design and personalize characters and creatures digitally, with the option to 3D print their creations. Once printed, the parts can be easily snapped together for interactive and dynamic play. This release introduces new features and enhancements to make 3D design more accessible, fun, and engaging for young creators.

"With Tinkerplay, we're giving them another powerful tool to play, create, and experiment—no matter their age."

The Tinkerplay app makes it easy for users to start designing right away by dragging and dropping interchangeable parts to build unique creations. These parts are designed specifically for 3D printing, allowing users to create fully poseable characters and creatures without the need for rafts or support structures. The in-app 3D printing feature helps visualize how parts will be arranged and offers a simple way to export files to various 3D printers.

For those looking to take their design skills further, Tinkerplay connectors are available in the Tinkercad web app. Autodesk has launched Tinkerplay across multiple platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows, and Windows phones, ensuring accessibility for users on their preferred devices. The app is available for free* on the App Store, Google Play, and the Windows Store for Windows 8.1 users.
